On Drawing Planar Angle Graphs

چکیده
Recently, some advanced algorithms for straight line drawings of planar graphs have been introduced. However, these algorithms produce drawings with many small angles. Their drawings are not aesthetically nice. Our goal is to resolve these problems by a beautifier. We consider the angles of planar straight line drawings. In a first phase we compute maximal angles by repeatedly solving a linear program. In a second phase we construct planar straight line drawings satisfying these angles. However, the drawability is not guaranteed. There are two approaches, either by a linear program for the edge length or by a new spring embedder. In our experiments we have achieved very promising results. On our test data, these algorithms outperform other advanced algorithms for straight line drawings and resolve the problem of drawings with too many small angles.

Simultaneous Drawing of Planar Graphs with Right-Angle Crossings and Few Bends
Given two planar graphs that are defined on the same set of vertices, a RAC simultaneous drawing is a drawing of the two graphs where each graph is drawn planar, no two edges overlap, and edges of one graph can cross edges of the other graph only at right angles. In the geometric version of the problem, vertices are drawn as points and edges as straight-line segments. It is known, however, that...
متن کامل1-Bend RAC Drawings of 1-Planar Graphs
A graph is 1-planar if it has a drawing where each edge is crossed at most once. A drawing is RAC (Right Angle Crossing) if the edges cross only at right angles. The relationships between 1-planar graphs and RAC drawings have been partially studied in the literature. It is known that there are both 1-planar graphs that are not straight-line RAC drawable and graphs that have a straight-line RAC ...
متن کاملPlanar Drawing of Clustered Graphs
Graphs are often used to represent relational information. As the amount of information that we want to visualize becomes larger and more complicated, classical graph model tends to be insuucient. In this paper, we introduce and show how to draw a practical and simple graph structure known as clustered graphs. We present an algorithm which produces planar, straight-line, convex drawings of clus...
متن کاملOn the Perspectives Opened by Right Angle Crossing Drawings
Right Angle Crossing (RAC) drawings are polyline drawings where each crossing forms four right angles. RAC drawings have been introduced because cognitive experiments provided evidence that increasing the number of crossings does not decrease the readability of a drawing if edges cross at right angles. We investigate to what extent RAC drawings can help in overcoming the limitations of widely a...
متن کاملRecognizing and Drawing IC-Planar Graphs
IC-planar graphs are those graphs that admit a drawing where no two crossed edges share an end-vertex and each edge is crossed at most once. They are a proper subfamily of the 1-planar graphs. Given an embedded IC-planar graph G with n vertices, we present an O(n)-time algorithm that computes a straight-line drawing of G in quadratic area, and an O(n3)-time algorithm that computes a straight-li...
متن کاملRight Angle Crossing Graphs and 1-Planarity
A Right Angle Crossing Graph (also called RAC graph for short) is a graph that has a straight-line drawing where any two crossing edges are orthogonal to each other. A 1-planar graph is a graph that has a drawing where every edge is crossed at most once. We study the relationship between RAC graphs and 1-planar graphs in the extremal case that the RAC graphs have as many edges as possible. It i...
